One of the sustainable tourism concepts in Malaysia includes the experience of cruising along Kinabatangan River watching wildlife’s. Kinabatangan River is one of the major rivers in Borneo Island with a length of 560 km length. What is essential during this tour is the raw experience having bits and pieces of jungle trekking and boat cruising witnessing the wild monkeys swinging from one tree to another and probably a chance to see the sightings of Borneo Pygmy Elephants.
Selamat Datang ke Malaysia or Welcome to Malaysia! Upon arrival we will travel from Sandakan Airport (SDK) to Lower Kinabatangan which would take approximately 2 hours travel time. Late evening, we will cruise along Lower Kinabatangan River. Just sit back and relax while discovering for wildlife. Most common animals which could easily be spotted includes Macaques, proboscis monkeys along with hornbills, raptors and other wetland birds that only occur in this type of habitat.
After breakfast, please wear proper attire as we will do some jungle trekking of Kinabatangan Virgin Forest. Spot on some of the amazing plants in the rainforest including the pitcher plant. Return to the lodge for lunch before we cruise along Kinabatangan River and watch the amazing sunset from the boat. The day is not over yet because after dinner we will have a night cruise along Kinabatangan River. Bring along necessary items such as insect repellent as well as torch light for you to see nocturnal animals coming out during the night.
We will start very early today, to sneak peek what is happening along Kinabatangan River before sunrise. If you are lucky you might spot Orangutan or even pygmy elephants. Head back to the resort for breakfast. Then we will continue our journey to visit the Orang Asli village (Aborigines Settlement), who has a nomadic lifestyle far from modernization. Kindly share some privacy as much as being respectful to them. Experience hands on, on how to use bamboo hunting blow pipe and making fire without lighter or matches. After lunch, it would be an amazing watch for bird lovers. With about 380 bird species, the park arguably has the highest number of birds of any forest area in Malaysia. After dinner, we will have a night jungle trekking. Please be very discreet, as it is the best way for you to observe and discover the nocturnal creatures such as reindeer, tapir and boar.
After breakfast, it is free at leisure for any last minute souvenir shopping around the hotel/resort or taking photos, before we proceed to check out and transfer to the airport. We hope you return home with wonderful and memorable memories and visit us again.
