Escaping from the common nature trekking, Mulu Cave in Borneo Island offers a fascinating and stunningly beautiful hidden world beneath your feet. Itinerary
Selamat Datang ke Malaysia or Welcome to Malaysia! Upon arrival we will travel from Mulu Airport (MZV) to Hotel in Mulu National Park which would take approximately 15 mins travel time. Prepare yourself with necessary documents for the registration at Mulu National Park headquarters. Just a quick tip, please ensure to carry enough cash as there won’t be any ATM machines around this area in-case you need cash to buy water or so. After registration and check-in, we will trek on a walking plank for 3 km before arriving at the Deer Cave followed by the Lang Cave. If the weather permits, our journey continues to the Bats Observatory Centre, to observe bats flying out of the cave entrance during late evening. Overnight in a lodge.
After breakfast, our visit will start off visiting the Penan Settlement at Batu Bungan. Discover how is the lifestyle of the Penan Tribes as well as some handicrafts which you could purchase as a souvenir. This is also a community service as you visit their Settlements. We will travel by a long boat along the Melinau River, usually stopping off at Wind Cave along the way. Normally the journey takes approximately 15 mins to reach Wind Cave by boat. However, if the water level is low, the journey may take slightly longer because many cases the boatman has to jump out of the boat and manually push it where the water is slightly higher. Our journey continues with the exploration of limestone formations at the Wind Cave and Clearwater Cave. We will enjoy our picnic lunch upon arriving Clearwater Summer Huts. We will then proceed to take a longboat to Long Litut followed by a 3 hours jungle trekking before arriving Camp 5. We will have our dinner and tonight we will overnight here at Camp 5 (Dormitory).
After breakfast, start trekking through the lowland forest to Terikan River. It is a great way exiting Mulu National Park before having our packed lunch break at Terikan River. Our journey will then continue by enjoying longboat ride down the Terikan River and Medalam rivers to longhouse which could take approximately 3-4 hours depending on the water level and boat engine. Please bear in mind that longboats are normally used by the locals and sometimes breakdown of engine might happen. Upon arrival at the longhouse, enjoy the dinner and overnight at the longhouse.
After breakfast at the longhouse, check out and transfer to the airport. We hope you return home with wonderful and memorable memories and visit us again.
