Selamat Datang ke Malaysia or Welcome to Malaysia! Upon arrival we will travel from Sandakan Airport (SDK) to Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre. Walk along the plank woods to spot on Orangutan’s roaming freely in Sepilok Rehabilitation Centre. Learn more about this Centre and the objective of Orangutan projects to protect these endangered animals. Just a quick note, Orangutan carries approximately 97% of human DNA and they could easily contract human germs which can be deadly to them. After lunch, we will continue to visit Labuk Bay Proboscis Monkey Sanctuary. Observe these beautiful monkeys at this privately-owned sanctuary located within an oil palm estate giving you the chance to observe these animals up close and personal.
After breakfast visit Sandakan City, one of the less urban city in Malaysia. The second largest city in Sabah, Sandakan was once one of the largest British settlements on the east coast of North Borneo. Places of interest includes: Sandakan Memorial Park, The Puu Jih Shih Buddhist Temple and Agnes Keith Museum. Return back to the hotel for some rest. The day is not over yet as we will travel at 17:00 hours to Pangkalan. Sit back as we see the sunset. We will then take a cruise along the river to see the mangrove forest as well as the magical fireflies which lights up naturally.
One of the largest limestone caves in Sabah is the Gomantong Caves located in the lower Kinabatangan area. After breakfast, we will travel approximately 2 hours drive before exploring a remarkable river known for its wildlife and fascinating habitats. At around 16:00 hours, if you are lucky you might spot Wild Orangutan, macaques or even pygmy elephants during our river cruise. After dinner, we will return to our hotel in Sepilok.
After breakfast, it is free at leisure for any last minute souvenir shopping around the hotel/resort or taking photos, before we proceed to check out and transfer to the airport. We hope you return home with wonderful and memorable memories and visit us again.
